Mission and Vision
Our Mission: At India Data Portal, we aim to ensure equitable access to information and data by providing an open and inclusive platform for data sharing and utilisation. At India Data Portal, we advocate for and support an open data infrastructure that is as accessible and as open as possible and supports data literacy and capability for all. IDP stands for open innovation. We strongly believe that unrestricted access to data promotes evidence-based research solutions leading to new discoveries, interventions, thereby promoting the mindset that leads to informed decision-making across various domains.
The core principles that keep us on the path to achieving our mission are:
- Findability: We are committed to making our datasets findable by providing metadata and search that can let users reach datasets of their choice easily
- Accessibility: We strive to eliminate barriers to data access by ensuring our platform is user-friendly, inclusive, and supports multiple formats
- Interoperable: All our datasets are carefully created to make them interoperable with each other based on Local Government Directory (LGD) Codes wherever applicable. This will provide plethora of opportunities to combine multiple datasets and obtain better analysis and insights
- Reusability: All the information and data that is provided for free usage for all purposes as long as you use proper citation as mentioned in our copyright policy
- Quality and Reliability: We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of data quality and reliability. We curate, validate, and continuously update our datasets to ensure their accuracy, completeness, and relevance
